Blue Leather

Dress- Piperlime (similar in tan), Boots- Wanted, Bracelet- Express

So lemme tell ya a little story about this dress. I fell in love with it on the Piperlime site a couple months back, and waited to purchase until it went on sale and I had a coupon code. I got a really good deal on it ($35, shipped!). When I first tried it on, it was hideous. We are talking leather-radiation-protector-at-the-dentist-during-x-rays hideous. Sometimes I really hate when dresses only come in S, M, and L (and it was sold out in small) because you really never know how the fit is going to be. Give me a medium in a Forever 21 dress any day and it'll most likely fit, but this dress was HUGE. I loved the style so much though, so I couldn't let it go to waste.

I decided to take my dress to a tailor after getting a recommendation for a good one in Dallas. They did a wonderful job, but being a newbie to alterations, I had no idea what to expect as far as pricing goes. $100. Yes, $100 to take in the sides and add a zipper up the back. My sale section find didn't seem like such a good deal anymore. (But I do LOVE how it turned out.)

To those of you who get alterations done frequently, tell me; is that a lot, or is this about what I should expect next time?

  2. Well, the dress turned out great! I've never gotten leather altered before, so that may be the reason for the steep price. I suggest doing more research, you should be able to find a better deal. But you do get what you pay for..

  3. YOur story is funny but I can totally see how it could look shapeless. Sorry it cost you $100 but as long as you wear it. It looks amazing now. It can be hard to buy things on line because you don't know how it's going to fit, but it looks good now.

    Have a great weekend.
