Style Diary is Two!

Jacket- Forever 21, Dress- JCPenney (old), Heels- JustFab (similar), Purse- Francesca's

It has been two years since I first hit the publish button on this blog of mine! Last year, I put on a special outfit to commemorate the occasion. That gold Juicy Couture blazer I had on is a rarely worn but greatly loved piece in my closet. This year, my fur jacket felt like just the piece to round out my second year of blogging. I'm still waiting for a real life occasion to wear it, but this will do for now!

I have scaled my blog down a lot in my second year, totaling 77 posts in 2014 as opposed to 236 in 2013. At the beginning of this year, I made the decision that blogging needed to take a backseat to the more important things in life. I found that when I tried to post four or five times a week, my posts and outfits were lacking originality and creativity. Creating content purely for the sake of consistency is hard. It wore on me. I wanted to post things I was proud of- things that I loved. I can honestly say that every look I have posted this year is one that I wore in real life (with the exception of the one above) and 90% of them were shot the day I wore the outfit. Doing my outfit shoots this way makes life so much easier for me. I typically only spend about 30 minutes a week shooting as opposed to a few hours!

This year, my boyfriend shot almost all of my outfits, so I owe him a big THANK YOU. Sometimes, because I want to make sure we get the right shots the first time, I make the situation a little more stressful than it needs to be (#honestmoment). He was a great sport, and I think that maybe, just maybe, he has grown to enjoy taking pictures for me. I love that he is a part of this little hobby of mine.

To those of you who have stuck around over the past two years, I owe you a big thank you as well! I truly appreciate those of you who take the time to read and comment. It's so cool to have a hobby that can connect you with girls all over the world!

Stonewash

Top- Target, Jeans- Target, Heels- Just Fab (similar), Necklace- Express, Watch- Fossil, Bracelet- Target

I don't think I've ever owned a pair of stonewash jeans. They have always seemed very 90's to me, but with all the different washes of denim coming out this season, purchasing this pair was definitely justified. To make this look a little less grunge and a little more girly, I added a silky polka dot top, but kept some edge with my studded heels.

A Birthday Wishlist

TOPS | Herringbone Sweater (sold out) | Printed Jacket | Pom Pom Sweater | Herringbone Vest (sold out) | BOTTOMS | Leather Pants | Pencil Skirt | Leather Skirt | Camo Jeans | SHOES | Bow Flats | Nude Pumps | Blue Pumps | Ankle Boots | BAGS | Michael Kors | Just Fab | Tote Avail. Sept 15 | Mini Satchel Avail. Sept 15

Birthdays are a good excuse to create wishlists of items totaling $$$$, right? Mine is next Tuesday and I've been compiling list upon lists of fall clothes, bags, shoes, and accesories. But who am I kidding- not many of these things will actually end up in my closet, but a girl can dream! I've been a little crazy with the fall shopping lately- not really buying, just looking. Add these items to my previous fall wishlist and you've got an entirely new wardrobe. (*Note: the J.Crew Factory herringbone vest and sweater have already found a home in my closet since I compiled this wishlist. Couldn't pass them up!)

Mad Men Style

Dress- eShakti, Chambray Shirt- Marshall's (similar), Heels- Just Fab (similar), Necklace- Francesca's, Bracelets- GlamourMeJewels, eBay

I started watching Mad Men on Netflix a couple weeks ago and I am totally addicted. I am already on season 5! I got this dress from eShakti using the gift card I won from Nicole at Probably Polka Dots. I feel so Betty in this dress. The print, length, and shape give me a real fifties vibe. I added a little modern flair by adding a chambray shirt underneath (to combat the too-plunging neckline!) and some strappy heels.

Any other Mad Men fans out there?

I'm a Copycat

My favorite thing about following style blogs is that they are an endless source of inspiration for remixing my closet. I love it when I see another bloggers outfit and think, "I have all the pieces to recreate that!" I use Pinterest to keep track of all the looks I love and looks I plan to copy, that way, when I can't figure out what to wear, I have a one stop shop to get an idea for a quick and easy outfit! Here are three looks that I have copied recently.

Easter Pastels

I figured my Easter outfit would make a perfect post for the first day of April! I got both this dress and blazer at Primark in London. I love them both! (Y'all... I went crazy in Primark. You will be seeing a lot more outfits from there coming up soon!) I was really happy to discover that my new Jeweliq earrings matched the colors in my dress perfectly.

Please excuse my super pale legs, I promise I'll start working on my tan as soon as the weather warms up a bit more! ;)
