Over The Knee

Blazer- Target, Sweater- Old Navy, Jeans- Loft, Boots- Forever 21, Hat- Charming Charlie (similar under $20), Bag- Forever 21

I found myself being drawn more and more to Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots, particularly the highstreet style. I cannot ever see myself wanting to spend that much on anything, let alone a pair of boots that aren't super practical for every day wear, so I went with a much more affordable pair from Forever 21 instead. They aren't an exact copy so I don't feel cheesy sporting designer knock-offs.

My one complaint about these boots? They get pretty bunchy around the knees. I think they would fit a little nicer in that area if they laced up the top 6 inches in the back. Laces would also help them fit better over jeans (they can be a little hard to pull on all the way), and would be nice to help tighten them up when I've worn them bare legged with skirts. But hey, they are from Forever 21, so what can you expect? Overall they are a very cute and comfortable boot at a great price.

Work Appropriate Leather

Top- Loft, Skirt- Loft, Booties- Nordstrom (similar), Coat- Forever 21, Tights- Target, Necklace- Anthropologie, Bag- Forever 21

I rarely shop at Loft. I think its a combination of the prices being a little too high than I like to pay, the shipping fee being $9, and that when they have their big end of season sales (which, I will admit, are awesome), the items become final sale. I have placed too many online orders and either had to return the item because it didn't fit and lose my $9 shipping charge, or I ordered something final sale that didn't fit and I couldn't do anything about it. Maybe I'm just picking the wrong sizes, but I am usually pretty good at doing that when placing online orders. Or maybe its just bad luck.

Anyway, I went to Loft with my mom after Christmas and was able to get both this top and skirt for great prices with the 50% off promo (the skirt was $18!). Then I saw the additional 60% off sale email come through inbox and I took another look. I went to a different store that had a ton of sale inventory and came out with three more great items at unbelievable prices! I guess the moral of the story is that I need to stop ordering online and go to the store when I want to shop there.

I have one more short story to tell today, and that is about this stunner of a statement necklace! My boyfriend picked this out for my for Christmas and I love it. The next time I looked at my Pinterest wishlist board, I realized I had pinned the same one a few weeks before! And no, he doesn't look at my Pinterest, he is just THAT good at picking out things that I like. I'm lucky :)

Aztec Printed

Coat- Target, Sweater- Forever 21, Jeans- Gap, Boots- Forever 21, Bag- Michael Kors

Please tell me I'm not the only person who has an obsession with a particular article of clothing or accessory that doesn't work well for the climate you live in or for your lifestyle. What I'm getting at is that I LOVE buying coats. I don't even want to count how many I have because its embarrassing. The reason why this is a particularly worthless obsession is that I live in Texas. We get maybe 3 months of coat-appropriate weather, maybe. And yet, every fall (before it ever gets the slightest bit cold) I go into a coat obsessed frenzy! You saw my September haul post where I bought not one, but two coats. I'll let you in on a little secret- my November haul contains several more coats...Embarrassing.

Summer Weather, Fall Vibe

Dress- Old Navy (similar here, love this), Booties- Express, Hat- Target, Bag- Forever 21 (similar)

I'm normally not one to be drawn to what I would call "bohemian" styles, but there's something about big fedoras that makes me want to wear flowy dresses with booties. Or maybe it was just this picture from Kendi Skeen's new boutique, West & Lou. I get really excited when I see a picture of an outfit I like and realize I have all the pieces to recreate it. And maybe this look is lacking creativity (which is the opposite of what I'm trying to go for, see here), but I really like it. It's perfect for the non-fall weather, and it still feels fall inspired.

Inspired by Alexa

Jacket- H&M (similar on sale $44), Sweater- Old Navy (similar on sale $17), Shirt- Target, Skirt- Peter Pilotto for Target, Heels- Charlotte Russe (identical)

Before shopping the Peter Pilotto for Target collection, I had decided on the red printed wrap skirt. Until I saw Alexa Chung wearing the black one, that is. I figured the black was more wearable anyway, and I loved how she paired it with a pastel sweater. I meant to recreate this outfit so many times, but after hanging my skirt in a random place in my closet, I never saw it, so I never wore it.

Well, thank goodness for the random cold Sunday we had this weekend. I figured it was finally time to break out this skirt for church, AND it was cold enough to pair it my own pastel blue sweater. I added a white button up underneath just because it felt right. I didn't need tights, and I opted for white shoes instead of black to make it a little more spring-like.

If you missed out on the Peter Pilotto collection, check your store's clearance racks. I found several items from the collection there over the weekend. I also found some other printed wrap skirts on the web, all under $40!

Layering Required

Coat- Old Navy, Chambray- Old Navy, Jeans- c/o Aeropostale, Blazer- Target, Belt- Target, Boots- Sole Society (on sale $36!), Necklace- Lulu's, Bag- Michael Kors

Texas weather is crazy, y'all. Its kind of hard to keep up with. On the cold days I've been really enjoying layering my outerwear, as I did here with my blazer and blanket coat. I like that the blazer peeks through just a bit from under my coat. Gives a bit more dimension to my outfit.

I haven't talked about my new bag yet. This was my Christmas present from my parents, and its my first designer bag! I had been eyeing it for months, and of course this color sold out in November. I looked all over eBay and Poshmark until I found this one, brand new, for over $100 less than the original price! I am so in love- the color, the size, the structure- it is the perfect everyday bag. The shoulder strap makes it even better. The problem is...now I'm eyeing the blue one! And that color is also basically sold out!
