Am I the only one who gets excited to see 30 and 40 degree days when I check my weather app? I have been thrilled that we have had some really cold days in Texas so that I can bundle up in lots of layers! It isn't often that I can get away with wear a hat, faux fur collar, coat, and gloves, so when the opportunity arises, I have to soak it up. I chose this outfit based around my rhinestone beanie and faux fur collar (that I found at Charming Charlie's for $5 might I add). My pink coat was screaming for the addition of the faux fur, and I love the mix of light pink, cream and gray. I couldn't resist adding the beanie on top, because it was cold, and because it's cute! I can't wait to style more cold weather looks in the weeks ahead.

Every time I wear my boyfriend jeans I think to myself that I need to wear them a lot more. I just always gravitate to my skinnies! I do love dressed up looks with boyfriend jeans though, so I decided to give it another try. I've heard a lot of people talk about getting your proportions right when wearing baggier jeans on bottom, but I kind of like the look of them with a looser top rather than something more fitted. 

I ordered this sweater in a medium from Aeropostale since I was afraid it would be a bit cropped, and I like the slighly oversized fit. (P.S. It's on sale for $15 and comes in four really nice pastel colors! I kinda want them all!) This sweater is incredibly soft. It pairs well with a semi-dressed up look, but its also something you can lay around the house in while wearing your pj pants. A touch of embellishment on my collar and silver heels finished off the look.

I love a good print mix, and this combination of plaid and fair isle feels perfect for winter. I love wearing olive as a neutral, so this coat went perfectly on top. I am so glad the leaves finally turned different colors here in Dallas! If the average high temperature is still sitting around 60-65, at least the scenery outside looks seasonally appropriate. I actually wore this outfit/took these pics on Thanksgiving day in between the bf's Thanksgiving lunch and hanging with my family afterwards. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this part of the street near where he lives. I have a feeling I'm going to be shooting a lot more outfits here! It looked so pretty with the trees and all the different older buildings.

Hope your December is going well and you aren't too stressed with the upcoming holidays! This is the best time of the year and I'm trying to enjoy it as much as I can while it lasts!

This outfit is full of all the things I love about dressing for the summer heat- all white, cutoff shorts, and a fun clutch. Its such a simple outfit to put together, and I love the impact all white makes. I got most of the pieces I'm wearing here from Aeropostale. I've been looking for white cutoff shorts all summer, and these are the perfect pair! I stuck to my rule of sizing up and they fit great. I originally bought these booties thinking they would be perfect for the summer to fall transition, but I actually really love how they look with shorts and skirts. And the belt? I actually had to borrow it from my boyfriend since my outfit looked a little plain without it. I haven't worn a belt this thick in years, and I may need to go out and look for my own since I liked how this one looked with my shorts.

Aeropostale's done a lot of work in the past year to rebrand and put out better merchandise. They definitely have more of a selection for the young twenty-something than they have in the past. I've raved about their denim multiple times (see here and here), and I love these shorts just as much as the other jeans and shorts I've gotten from them.

Summer Ready

I'm probably not alone in the minute feeling of dread that comes along with summer. Don't get me wrong...there are many things I love about summer; pool days, sno cones, more sunlight. But, hot weather= showing more skin while wearing our shorts and bathing suits. I've been spending some time in the gym to combat my fear of stepping out in smaller pieces of clothing, but mother nature isn't giving me any relief here. Living in Texas, we probably get at least four months straight of 90+ degree days. And that four months started this past Saturday!

Since it's already way too hot for jeans, boyfriend shorts are my new BFF. (Okay, these aren't actually called "boyfriend shorts," but I sized up so they fit looser overall. Aeropostale's actual boyfriend shorts kind of overwhelmed my short legs, but they are super cute!) In previous years, I've always ended up buying shorts that were tight on my thighs, and that just isn't comfortable at all. These shorts are perfect for keeping as cool as possible in hot weather. They hang low on my hips and are loose fitting in the legs to give the same look as boyfriend shorts. If you are short (I'm 5'3") and have hips like me, I suggest skipping on true "boyfriend shorts" and sizing up in a slimmer fitting pair for the same look without overwhelming your frame, or making your hips appear larger than they are. This pair is Aeropostale's midi short, which comes in ten different washes.

Another trick for short girls wearing shorts? Skip the flat sandals (if you aren't doing too much walking) and go for wedges instead. They are much more comfortable than heels, and make your legs appear much longer and more toned than flats!
