Let's Try That Again

Sweater- Gap (limited sizes online, similar here), Jeans- c/o Aeropostale, Boots- Calvin Klein, Coat- Zara, Necklaces- Nordstrom, similar, Scarf- Forever 21 (love this, only $13.99!)

Budgeting. Ugh. Its hard. And its not fun. But it's necessary. I feel the need to confess after I shared my shopaholic nature last month. I went a month without shopping, and I felt great about my progress. As I shared closet cleaning, wishlist making, and smart shopping tips, what I was really doing was trying to ingrain those concepts into my own thick skull.

So I'm going to tell you just what happened after I ended my shopping ban halfway through October and decided I was ready to embark on my journey of shopping on a budget. First, I spent my October budget. Then, I kept going. I definitely overspent. I felt bad, but not bad enough to stop. I overspent in November too.

I'm not too far gone, but I felt like I need to be honest in case you start to notice me wearing some recently purchased clothes and wonder if I am really sticking to my budget. The only thing I can do at this point is try again. I am going to try to curb the shopping to a minimum until January. I have Christmas presents to buy after all! I'm going to spend some time brainstorming better ways to stay on budget. If you have any tips to share, I'd love to hear them!

    Oh Katie, I totally know how you feel. It's hard to stay on a budget. You're like oh I love that and you justify it because it's on sale. I feel like i barely pay off my credit card and then it's back up again. Maybe what you should do when you go to the mall is only bring cash, leave your credit card at home, then you can only spend what you bring. Good luck.

    I'm on a major clothing budget right now too and it's So hard! I've never spent a ton of money on clothing, but I do spend a big percentage of what I make on it. I too am staying motivated right now by focusing on the gifts I'm buying for Others! You look super cute and cozy, and the shopping budget will get easier for us ;)

    I do need to get better about using cash! Or at leave my credit cards at home. I am bad about online shopping on my lunch break! :)

    I love your plaid scarf and cozy sweater! Oh man, I also find it really hard to stick to a budget. Especially now around the holidays when they are so many good sales and I'm doing lots of shopping for gifts anyway! Like you said, all you can do is try again!

    Great sweater, and I love your scarf. Sticking to a budget is hard, and there's lots of different ways to go about it. Mine didn't work the first time either.
