Black Maxi

Tank- Old Navy, Skirt- Forever 21 (similar), Sandals- Lulu's (same here), Necklace- Baublebar, Hat- Forever 21, Sunglasses- Forever 21, Bag- David Jones

During Memorial Day weekend, I found myself in Old Navy (living across the street from the mall, sometimes that just happens). They had some really great deals going on, but I was trying my best to refrain. One of the pieces I wanted to pick up was this black jersey maxi dress. I could picture it going so well with my new $7 Forever 21 fedora, but I paused for just a second before I grabbed it off the rack. I realized that I have a perfectly good black maxi skirt and tank top that I could use to easily create the same look. Phew. It's amazing what a little bit of creativity can save when it comes to clothes shopping (...but really, pairing a tank and maxi dress isn't a revolutionary combo, it's just that I love the thrill of new clothes so I rarely stop and think of what I already have!).

Fit in Clouds

I'm the girl who wears four inch wedges to a softball field, or stacked heeled sandals for three hours at the mall. I love wearing heels, but there have been many days when my feet have hated me by the time I took them off for the day. This happens especially when I get a new pair of heels and want to wear them immediately without considering the consequences. I rarely even think to grab a bandaid or two in case I start to get blisters, let alone to grab a pair of flats just in case I need them.

I was really excited when Fit in Clouds contacted me about reviewing their foldable flats because I knew they were a product I could get a lot of use out of. I've seen other foldable flats going for over $250! That is way too high a price to pay, even for something with a great convenience factor. Fit in Clouds flats ring up between $20 and $32, and they have a good variety of colors and styles. I choose the black and gold patent pairs, knowing that they would match best with the rest of my closet.

Fit in Clouds flats come in a drawstring bag that really is small enough to fit in your purse. I've started carrying a pair in my day-to-day handbag so that I can change into them if I need to run errands after work. If there is one place I really hate wearing heels, its the grocery store, so these flats are great to have on days I need to run in on my way home.

Other occasions I know these flats will come in handy are nights out, weddings, or basically any time you will be on your feet a lot in fun stilettos that aren't quite as comfy as they are cute. My Fit in Clouds flats actually fit inside my pink clutch, which made me really excited! I've worn my nude Zara heels out several times, and plan to wear them to an upcoming wedding. It's nice to know I can carry my Fit in Clouds flats to change in to at the end of the night when my feet can't take any more.

As for the comfort factor? These flats are super comfortable. I almost feel like I'm walking barefoot in them. I normally wear a 6.5, so I went with a medium in both pairs. The gold pair was a little bigger than the black, so I could have used a small, but they are still wearable.

I definitely recommend checking out Fit in Clouds if you wear a lot of heels, or even if you don't. Carrying foldable flats is a really easy way to avoid the annoyance of uncomfortable shoes. They are a great value for something that can save you from the reality that sometimes, our cutest shoes just aren't that practical. Now, whenever your friends question your choice of wearing your four inch stilettos for a night out, you can laugh off their concerns knowing that you have the safety net of your Fit In Clouds flats tucked away in your purse.

Flirty Floral

Top- Mango (similar), Skirt- Forever 21, Sandals- DSW, Bag- David Jones, Necklace- love this, Sunglasses- similar

I really love wearing skirts during the summer. I find them much comfier than shorts (though when I find a good pair, I love wearing them too). A little cotton flared number like this is incredibly easy to dress up or down. I wore heels to dress my skirt up for a wedding shower during the day, then changed into flat sandals for an outdoor food festival that evening. It was perfect for both occasions.

What I Bought This Month: May Haul

Y'all, I'm not even going to pretend that I stayed on budget this month. I guess it was the warm weather getting to my head that gave me "buy all the things" syndrome. I didn't even completely tally up all my purchases yet because I'm nervous. And also, what's pictured above isn't even all of it.... so yeah. This month, I decided to show everything I've worn so far, and then post the rest in June.

My plan is to go on a shopping ban for June and July. I am going to total everything up eventually so I'll know what I spent, but I'm pretty sure that if I lump May, June, and July's budget together, I'll break even. I won't lie, I'm embarrassed to post this since I've previously posted a series about shopping your own closetshopping on a budget, and being a smart shopper. I need to learn to take my own advice!

As for what I've been buying? A lot of white, blue, and floral. Oh, and sandals. Lots of sandals.

Here are the details:

1. White Bow Tank (Forever 21)- All I want to wear lately are white tops! Worn here.

2. Navy Lace Skirt (H&M, sold out)- I love this skirt. I wish it was still available online so all of you could get it too! Worn here.

3. White Skirt (Nordstrom, sold out)- Loving this skirt too. It's different that my typical pencil skirt cut and I love that about it. Worn here.

4. Statement Necklace (Baublebar, sold out)- When I bought this necklace, I wasn't sure how much I'd get to wear it, but it actually matches everything! Worn here.

5. Floral Maxi Dress (Forever 21)- Worn here.

6. Red Striped Tee (J.Crew Factory)- Totally necessary for all the nautical inspired outfits I plan to wear for summer. (Well, maybe not totally necessary, but I totally wanted this tee.) Worn here.

7. Nude Heels (Zara)- Somehow I didn't really own any plain nude heels! These are great and pretty comfortable considering the heel height. Worn here, here.

8. White Shorts (Old Navy)- I bought white chino shorts from J.Crew, but they were completely see through! It surprised me that these were much higher quality. I'm really tempted to buy these in baby pink and baby blue too. Worn here.

9. White Bucket Bag (Lori's Shoes)- Love, love, love this bag. It fits everything and I love that it's white. Seen here, here.

10. Perforated Sandals (Lulu's, same here)- I first purchased these in white, but realized I had another very similar pair. So, logically, I bought them in nude...even though I bought two other pairs of nude sandals this month...hmmmm. But at least I love them all. Worn here.

11. Boyfriend Jeans (Forever 21, sold out)- These are the perfect boyfriend jeans, found unexpectedly at Forever 21! Worn here.

12. Embellished Sandals (Just Fab)- Worn here.

13. Floral Skirt (Forever 21)- Worn here.

14. Chambray Shirt (Sosie, sold out)- I own like eight chambray shirts...but the sheer floral sleeves on this one are so fun! Worn here.

15. Blue Tee (J.Crew)- Worn here.

16. Tan Sandals (DSW)- Yes, I bought three pairs of nude heeled sandals in one month, but these are great for more casual occasions and are incredibly comfortable since they have a block heel. Worn here.

17. Fedora (Forever 21)- I wasn't sure I could pull off a fedora, but it was only $7, so I decided to try it. I've already worn it several times! Worn herehere.

18. Gray Sweater (J.Crew)- I already owned the tan version of this and I love it, so I got the gray as well on super sale. Worn here.

19. Blush Skirt (Sosie)- I haven't bought as much pink lately, but I couldn't resist this fun blush flared skirt. Worn here.

20. Blush Leather Jacket (Sosie)- ...also couldn't resist this blush leather jacket! Worn here.

21. Aztec Sandals (Target)- These will be super cute with a basic solid tee and shorts for the summer.

22. Sandals (Old Navy)- I was so bored of my two and three year old basic braided strap Target sandals, so I got these in black and tan. Unfortunately both colors are sold out online.

So there you have it. My very poor justification of why I purchased all of this stuff.

Work Wear: Nautical Inspired

Jacket- c/o Sheinside, Tee- J.Crew Factory, Skirt- H&M (similar), Heels- Zara, Necklace- Lulu's, Watch- Fossil

Nautical inspired outfits are a no-brainer for summer casual wear, so I figured why not incorporate the trend into my workwear? This navy lace skirt was probably the best thing I've ever found at H&M. I wish it was still in stock online so I could link it for you! I added this printed jacket from Sheinside to add just a little more detail and print mix to my look made up of otherwise basic pieces.

Yesterday, I posted on Johanna's blog about the nine closet staples you need for summer! Check out the post here.
