Black Maxi

Tank- Old Navy, Skirt- Forever 21 (similar), Sandals- Lulu's (same here), Necklace- Baublebar, Hat- Forever 21, Sunglasses- Forever 21, Bag- David Jones

During Memorial Day weekend, I found myself in Old Navy (living across the street from the mall, sometimes that just happens). They had some really great deals going on, but I was trying my best to refrain. One of the pieces I wanted to pick up was this black jersey maxi dress. I could picture it going so well with my new $7 Forever 21 fedora, but I paused for just a second before I grabbed it off the rack. I realized that I have a perfectly good black maxi skirt and tank top that I could use to easily create the same look. Phew. It's amazing what a little bit of creativity can save when it comes to clothes shopping (...but really, pairing a tank and maxi dress isn't a revolutionary combo, it's just that I love the thrill of new clothes so I rarely stop and think of what I already have!).

Purple Flowers

Dress- Forever 21, Jacket- Forever 21 (similar), Wedges- Banana Republic (similar), Bag- Francesca's, Sunglasses- Forever 21 (similar)

I love a good maxi dress for spring and summer, and I really liked the purple floral print of this one. I was also intrigued by the slit since I don't have any maxis that have one. I've seen quite a few skirts and dresses lately with thigh high slits that are too much for me, but since this one hits right above my knee, it's perfect. It makes the dress extra breezy so I can keep wearing it even when it's hot out.

Summer Lookbook: Maxi Skirt

Tee- Target, Vest- Forever 21, Skirt- c/o Oasap (on sale!), Sandals- Target, Necklace- Jeweliq

A few weeks ago, I featured a maxi dress in a summer lookbook post, but I also had to include maxi skirts as one of my summer staples. A maxi skirt is a little bit more versatile than a dress because you can mix up your top. Last Friday, I styled this Oasap maxi skirt 2 other ways, so you can see there are many ways to style them! I like this skirt because it's flowy and feels flirty and cute for summer. Because it offers more coverage, you can easily transition a maxi skirt into fall when the weather cools off. Keep reading below to see some more options for maxi skirts and how I would style them.

Summer Lookbook: Maxi

Dress- American Eagle (old), Vest- Forever 21, Sandals- Target, Watch- Fossil, Bracelet- Forever 21 Sunglasses- Forever 21

Maxis are a definitely summer staple in my book. This thin cotton dress is super comfy (and a great way to hide those legs you were too lazy to shave this morning!) Its also the perfect piece to carry you into fall with a great blazer or leather jacket when the weather starts cooling off. I'm eyeing a few to add to my wardrobe- check them out down below!
